Its forehead is nut-brown and eyebrows are golden with black eye lines, which are wide and long. The emerald back is lustrous, the throat has a milky color, the chest and the belly are yellow, the part from the middle belly to the lower tail covert is brightly red, the upper tail covert is blue, the primary feather is black, the beak is black, too and the feet are light brown. In the book entitled the History of Huben Village, Indian Pitta is also called pitta or blue-winged pitta. Its scientific name is Pitta brachyura Temminck & Schlegel with a nickname of Blue-winged Pitta in English. It belongs to PASSERIFORMES, Pittidae.
