Description:New leaves of Celosia argentea are usually picked to entertain the guests in Pingding Village in April. It tastes like wild amaranth as it is in the Amaranthaceae family. It is said Celosia argentea is not only an edible wild herb, but also can be used as herbal medicine. Its seeds are decocted and the juice can be used to wash the eyes externally or to take internally for detoxification as well as for stamina. The whole plant is good at warding off evils and its stem and leaves can cure itchy skin. People usually plant Celosia argentea in the garden for embellishment. Proper seasons for seeding are spring, summer and fall since they are easy to grow.
