| Description：Male Anas platyrhynchos (wild green-head goose; Mallard) is 61 cm long and female is 53 cm with a full wing length of 85 to 99 cm. A flock of wild geese come to Taiwan to spend the winter from October to December every year. Mr. Huang, Yen-huei, a gentleman who devotes himself to the ecological preservation for wild geese, accompanied the author to watch birds by Jhuoshuei River and he said the interflow between Jhuoshuei River and Cingshuei River, puddles in the stream and grassy marshes were rich in invertebrate organisms, fish, shrimps and water grass and they were the best places for wild geese to spend their winter. |
