Description:Cycas revoluta Thunb.? belongs to Cycadaceae and is also known as Sago palm, Sago cycas and cycad. It is a type of evergreen tree and grows slowly. The pinnate compound leaves radiate to four corners evenly, just like a peacock displays its fine tail feathers. The foliaceous quality is as hard as a needle. It is a dioecism plant. Male flowers draw out from the top of central foliature and have tubular inflorescence. The female flowers grow in the middle of foliature, too, are pinnate with dense brown hair and hidden under grayish white hair. The female inflorescence is ovoid or spherical arranged with peach-shaped seeds. |
